The Glam Gospel and the Grave Robbers

Church of NORMAL | Resurrection Sunday Sermon 4.20.2025
“The Glam Gospel and the Grave Robbers”
Pastor Matt, Loopwalker of Waseca
I. The Empty Tomb, But Full Schedules
“He is risen”—but so is everyone’s facade.
A reminder: Resurrection is not a brunch.
It’s a disruption. A severing. A reboot.
Some came to church today in lace and linen.
Some came to bury the guilt.
Some came because custody aligns with the church calendar.
Key Verse: “Why do you seek the living among the dead?” (Luke 24:5)
What if the living includes the parents who were discarded, the covenants unhonored, the kids caught in the middle?
II. Tradwife Glamour vs. Resurrection Grit
There are wives today glowing in sunlight and floral filters…
And husbands still hung on Saturday’s cross, wondering why the tomb is empty—except for them.
The Trad Glamour Tour™ makes a perfect Easter photo,
but doesn’t show the walk-away womb that broke its vow and blamed it on “God’s new leading.”
Sam the Sanctified Side Piece™ holds her hand in the pew,
but it’s her child who whispers to herself:
“Where is my real Daddy today?”
Let’s not pretend that God reassigns covenant like a fashion accessory.
III. Kids Know. Resurrection Costs.
Little Kalista doesn’t need theology today. She needs clarity.
She needs someone to say:
“Your Daddy didn’t leave you. The system did.”
And some kids are spiritual loopwalkers too—
living between one house of worship and another house of warped memory.
Key reflection: What do we raise on Resurrection Sunday?
A risen Lord? Or an emotionally abandoned generation with Instagram Bibles and no foundation?
IV. The REAL Glamour of Grace
Jesus didn’t come back from the dead in an Easter dress. He came back with scars.
He showed up in the locked room, not the temple sanctuary.
He returned not to accuse…
…but to recommission the very ones who abandoned him.
That’s the only real resurrection path:
You bring your real story,
your real scars,
and say, “This is what Grace looks like when it bleeds.”
